Mar 27, 2022 at 20:03 | comment | added | Dave L Renfro | For more about my teaching and grading policies, see my answer to How do I reassure my students that my grading really will be “strict but fair” when the university has an “official” grading policy? (This is in Academia Stack Exchange.) Some of the other answers and comments there should also be of interest to those in this SE group.
Mar 27, 2022 at 19:50 | comment | added | Dave L Renfro | Incidentally, I mention homework above. I almost never graded homework (using quizzes instead -- possibly at some later time I'll find a Math Forum post that discusses this more specifically), but I definitely assigned homework. Some homework problems would be solved later in class (at students' request, or when I got lots of office visits and/or emails about certain problems) and some homework problems with trivial cosmetic changes showed up on quizzes and tests.
