To make a math class spiritually uplifting, teach some history of the spiritual connections of math.

- Discuss Newton's General [Scholium][1] to the Principia, his greatest application of calculus:  "This most beautiful System of the Sun, Planets, and Comets, could only proceed from the counsel and dominion of an intelligent and powerful being."

- Discuss Berkeley's [Analyst][2], with its criticism of the unrigorous calculus and frequent comparisons to religion.

- Discuss [magic squares][3] in a linear algebra class, perhaps reformulating the conditions in terms of matrices.
