A focus on the quality, content, or consequences of patterns of action that occur among classroom participants.

"Classroom interaction" is the focus on teacher-student or student-student interactions. These include discussion and analysis of traditional patterns of interaction (like IRE - inquiry-response-evaluation) but may also include the role of technology in mediating the interaction of participants.

For clarity, and to contrast with "classroom management," classroom interaction is not a concern about maintaining order in the classroom, but rather about what is contained in specific interactions between classroom participants, whether they be teacher-driven or student-driven.
