How do I explain that $(-1)^2 = 1$ to a child?
Depending on the age of the child, this might be a tad abstract approach.

Making an online math course "interactive"
Unfortunately my experiences are mostly negative - having a forum and maybe a single task there (write something, respond to another student) was not sufficient to get people actually using it.

Assigning a semi-independent project for current math I students to learn a topic in Math II overlap with math I, and teach a math II class, how to?
This sounds like an interesting and ambitious project; good luck! I do not unfortunately know the school context you are doing this in so as to give any advice. At least some USA people use similar kinds of course names; maybe that?

Examples of different languages with mathematically different names for concepts

Is there an equivalent for "tiervenner" in English or other languages?
Those are good questions. I also like to suggest minus pi and ten plus pi. (The concept is mostly used on the first few grades, so these questions, while fun, are not relevant.)
